Answering the Call: Tim Sturholdt Volunteers for Tornado Relief in St. Louis
When disaster strikes, it takes more than bricks and mortar to rebuild—it takes heart. That’s exactly what Tim Sturholdt, a valued member of the Kozeny-Wagner team, brought to the recent relief efforts in St. Louis following devastating tornado damage.
Responding to a request from Missouri Department of Public Safety’s State Emergency Management Agency, Tim volunteered as a building inspector with the Missouri Structural Assessment and Visual Evaluation (SAVE) Coalition—a dedicated group of volunteer engineers, architects, building inspectors, and other trained professionals. The Coalition supports Missouri’s emergency response by conducting rapid building damage inspections in the wake of disasters. Their mission is critical: quickly determining which buildings are safe to use and which should be evacuated to protect public safety.
Over the course of three days, Tim—alongside fellow volunteers Alyssa and Eli—inspected and tagged 120 buildings, averaging 40 per day. Their work involved evaluating the exterior of each structure, assessing structural integrity, and labeling them based on safety for occupancy. These inspections helped guide families, first responders, and contractors through the early stages of recovery, ensuring safety and providing much-needed clarity.
Tim’s selfless action is a powerful reminder of the role we can all play in strengthening our communities. We’re proud to have people like him representing Kozeny-Wagner—not just as builders, but as neighbors who care deeply and act boldly.
